I find it admirable when athletes and entertainers take time out to help out in the Community. This is one of this opportunities. Andre Igoudala of the Philadelphia 76ers has teamed up with Philadelphia nonprofit Stars Within Reach to kick-off a 10-day statewide campaign to increase awareness and monetary support for educational programs benefiting children in urban areas living with autism and children impacted by poverty. This will be done with ‘Bowling for Promise’ on Monday, March 21, 5:00pm-9:00pm at Lucky Strikes Bowling Lanes in Center City – 1336 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Tickets are $27 for children age 12 and under; $35 for adults.
200+ guests will join Stars Within Reach, Iguodala, 76ers teammates and members of the Eagles organization for four hours of bowling, food, signature drinks, a fun silent auction, and Apple giveaways. Iguodala will team up with young people from Urban Promise, a New Jersey-based Academy equipping children and teens with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth and leadership, for the first few rounds of bowling; and later in the evening, Iguodala will make a huge announcement, unveiling the new Stars Within Reach website and intricate details of the 10-day online, interactive campaign to raise awareness for the above mentioned causes.
Proceeds from ‘Bowling for Promise’ will be used to fund meaningful educational opportunities for children who are facing challenging financial and medical circumstances, due to autism and due to poverty. By providing educational resources, Stars Within Reach and Iguodala believe that they can help children reach their full potential while enjoying a safe and supportive learning environment.
