Mayer Hawthorne performs “Maybe so, Maybe no” & “Gangsta Luv” Live

In celebration of Stones Throw Records 15-year anniversary, the label held a series of shows withh Stones Throw artists recording live, directly to vinyl, in front of an audience at Capsule Labs studio/pressing plant in Los Angeles.

The sets were all recorded straight to vinyl LP in real time with no use of computer tapes  or digital gear. The artists all performed 15 minute pieces with the recording engineers mixing and mastering the record as it’s happening. 500 units were pressed on vinyl with no CD’s or digital copies will be manufactured or sold.

Mayer Hawthorne was the first act to take part in this serious and his set is now available. Mayer Hawthorne played a set filled mostly with A Strange Arrangement material as well as his remix of Snoop Dogg’s “Gangsta Luv”.  He was also accompanied by his live band, the County.

Take a listen to the track below and make sure you pick up your version of the LP. I am a big fan of the album packaging as it comes in plain white jackets with a hand-stamped title on front. You can cop the direct-to-disc vinyl at Stones Throw. Also make sure you check out the tracklisting below.
