‘NIC*FISH is a Philly-based womenswear brand catering to eclectic fashionistas in a global manner. Pieces from te collection are convertible, layerable and interchangeable, offering infinite options to express individuality and personal style.’
We think striking simplicity is best punctuated by a shot of expressive color. Our fresh crop of new artists agrees. From now until May 7, we invite you to join us on a trip to the tropics with CURRENT, this month’s shopping exhibit. Here’s a taste:
Nicole Fisher has mastered the art of the silhouette. Fisher began NIC*FISH in 2000, with the goal of designing clothing for her circle of friends – musicians, entertainers, and other Philly tastemakers. Fisher layers bright colors like mango and cobalt to create lively, vivacious looks. With cut-outs and draping that flatter but never reveal, NIC*FISH combines sex appeal with elegance and ease.
Based in Philadelphia since 1995, Douglas Witmer’s work has been the subject of celebrated exhibitions in the US and abroad. His bands of color are reminiscent of Rothko’s, yet entirely his own. Witmer says he’s interested in geometry, manipulating surfaces, and “emphatic color,” all evident in his electric, evocative paintings.
Anu Rock (Nikrumah Seku Jennings) was born an artist but found his medium later in life. As a boy in Queens, he was fascinated with the way the plumber soldered the copper pipes in his family home. In his South American travels, Jennings discovered a passion for the craft of welding. His bold rock and metal jewelry gives the wearer a sense of cool command.
Danny Fox sculpts sleek, industrial rings from metal and acrylic. Straight lines and perfect circles inspire confidence; stark white and gleaming silver illuminate his flawless designs. Danny’s jewelry is crafted for the purist – and the powerhouse – in each one of us.
