Kobe Bryant gave the world the first official look at his next signature sneaker Nike Kobe 8 System. It was a star studded event with all the stops pulled out at the top of the AT&T building in downtown Los Angeles with Kobe arriving via helicopter. Spread across two rooms, Nike Basketball first gave us a glimpse into the past before we had a chance to see what was next in Kobe’s line. Though we knew that weight was a new performance factor in the Kobe 8 design, it became more evident when we saw the weight of each of Kobe’s previous signatures posted below the shoe. While both the Kobe V and VI came in at 10.6 ounces, the weight actually jumped to 13.6 ounces with last year’s model.
