In October, Depeche Mode announced a spring arena tour, as well as news that they’d release a new record in the spring. The album, which follows 2009’s Sounds of the Universe, will be out in March 2013 via Columbia, the band confirmed today. It will be their first release on Columbia.
On the band’s website, Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore said, “The music has a similar vibe to [1990’s] Violator and [1993’s] Songs of Faith and Devotion and I think the songs on the album are among some of the very best we’ve done.” Meanwhile, describing the record, Dave Gahan said it’s “not a blues record, but it definitely has a soulful vibe.”
