Nightlands is playing a special show at PhilaMOCA on Tue. Dec. 4 where he’ll be performing an original score to “2001: A Space Odyssey.”
Nightlands (aka Dave Hartley, bassist for Philly’s own War On Drugs) says, “with this project I’m going to take my favorite film, one that has it’s eyes squarely on the future, and re-contextualize it with the sounds and smells of nostalgia and pastwatch. It represents a reverence for science and a dream of the future that died in the 60s, killed by the fear of change and the dogmatism of religion.” He’ll be joined by Jeff Zeigler on electronics and synths.
Nightlands’ sophomore album, Oak Island, is out Jan. 22 on Secretly Canadian. You can check out single “So Far, So Long” here.
