Since publishing her National Book Award-winning memoir Just Kids in 2010, Patti Smith‘s embarked on several literary endeavors– including another memoir, 2011’s Woolgathering— but now she’s confirmed that a followup to Kids is on the way. She’s planning its sequel.
As NME reports, Smith suggested the next book will be out in 2013, and will be a more “music based” story including details about her marriage to the MC5 guitarist Fred Smith.
Smith told Billboard:
I don’t have a big rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, a sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll story to tell. I think I have maybe a better story. Through rock ‘n’ roll I traveled the world, worked with my late brother and, best of all, that’s how I met Fred. It changed my life in many unexpected ways, so I have my story to tell.
