Using the Bearbrick as a canvas, the toys have been re-appropriated and re-sized to create the “Manekineko Daruma Gold” series. “Manikineko” and “Daruma” are both highly ubiquitous symbols in Japanese culture, representing good luck for the owner. Both symbols often take the shape of ceramic dolls or figurines, yet this new collaborative project fuses traditional icons with a necessarily modern form. The collection also includes a range of other traditional likenesses, and is available in the Skytree shop.
