About Jade Alston
Relatable story telling & self expression have always been the inspirations behind Jade Alston’s music. Of her debut EP, “Single On A Saturday Night,” Jade says with a laugh “I got dumped, so I wrote a bunch of songs about it…” Fresh, honest, relatable, smooth & soulful are just a few words to describe this independent R&B singer’s style & approach to making music. Some have described Jade as a 2013 cross between Toni Braxton and Aaliyah.
Hailing from Philly, Jade is a young woman on a mission to make great music and to inspire others along the way. Jade got her start in show business at the age of 15 as a video jock (known by the moniker Jasmine Jai), for Philadelphia’s longest running video show, Urban X-Pressions. At 18, Jade was selected a background singer/hype girl for recording artist, Kelis. Once that gig was over, Jade went on to tour the country as a solo opening act for artists like 50 Cent, Ameriie, Fat Joe & others.
Fast forward about 4 years, after spending time in college and as a business woman, Jade made up her mind that music was her heart’s true passion. Jade began working as a songwriter which later earned her the opportunity to work under Grammy recognized hit-makers Claude Kelly, Chuck Harmony & Jon Jon Traxx. Jade was able to hone her skills and perfect her vocal and songwriting abilities.
From there Jade released of her first EP, “Single On A Saturday Night” which was reviewed in the New York Times as “…romantic but self-reliant, self-empowered, girl’s-girl trustworthy…” The honest body of work was also featured by Vibe Vixen, MTVuk, ConcreteLoop, and others.
Nowadays Jade is set to raise the bar for herself with the release of a new reflective EP, “Sunday Morning: Single On A Saturday Night Pt.2,” and the launch of her non-profit initiative “Own Your Art.” Jade’s goals are to not only make great music, but to encourage young adults to express themselves through their art and to show that it is possible to make a career out of the arts, if they choose. Jade is also tapping into her enthusiasm for other forms of art by working as a brand ambassador and designer for several up and coming fashion labels. JADE ALSTON is working this year! She is ready to make her mark as a singer, songwriter, philanthropist, entrepreneur, fashion enthusiast, & all around artist. Jade invites the world to join in on the journey.
