It’s no secret that Spotify has become dominant in the subscription music game. Well it looks like Google wants a piece of the action and has already clandestinely secured licensing deals with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group. The Verge reported these actions will be confirmed by Google at their annual developer conference this week: Google I/O. While specific services of the music service are yet verified, all signs point to a sizable music library that users can access for a small fee. Spotify, if this is true, will be affected by this launch. Spotify already has 24 million active users and 6 million paid subscribers.
