The Black-Eyed Peas Return to Hip-Hop Roots With “Yesterday”

After all but abandoning their hip-hop roots in the early part of the millennium, Los Angeles-born group The Black Eyed Peas have revisited their early influences and sound with a new release title "Yesterday". A celebration of the genre’s iconic forerunners, sampling iconic releases such as Onyx’s “Slam,” ODB’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” N.W.A.’s “Straight Outta Compton,” Wu-Tang’s “Killa Bees,” and Beastie Boys’ “Paul Revere," the track is the first from the group without the departed Fergie.
