DQM and Vans have partnered to focus on the early days of skateboarding, presenting their “101’s” collection. The two are taking it back to the ’80s when the sport was still emerging and the coinciding skate fashion was influenced by bright colors, bold fabrics and flashy graphics, in addition to basketball style, sports culture and hip-hop style.
Accordingly, DQM and Vans have worked on the Sk8-Hi Reissue LX, in turn implementing a vintage sports feel characterized by ’80s and ’90s East Coast skateboarding. Available in three colorways, each iteration notes construction from canvas, then featuring a leather Side Stripe and heel, and a nylon tongue. The standout aspect of the sneaker, however, is the addition of a removable, striped ankle strap. DQM branding has then been applied to the footbed and heel tab.
The DQM x Vans Sk8-Hi Reissue LX “101’s” are releasing in men’s and women’s sizes on June 18 at the Vans DQM General in SoHo as well as http://uristocrat.com/2012/12/paz-de-la-huerta-for-agent-provocateur-new-fragrance-campaign/.
