I really like Legos so I will definitely be visiting the latest Lego Store to open in NYC. The store opened up in NYC’s Rockefeller Center and for June 29, June 30 and July 1, a team of LEGO Master Model Builders will be in-store constructing a giant, 15-foot LEGO apple. There are also bonuses each day for the first 500 customers. Stop by and indulge your inner child.

Gizmodo may have found the next IPhone. Apparently it was found in a bar in Redwood City, California. Interestingly enough, the phone featured a case to make it appear to be an iPhone 3GS.

What’s new

• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

There are a couple of questions that are raised by the unveiling of these photos. Did Apple do this deliberately? Did Gizmodo steal the phone? Should they return it? Is the phone real?

We might have to investigate.

ToyStreet is a grassroots event that aims to connect toy collectors, artists, vendors and people who share the same interests, in a unique experience where they can buy/sell/trade designer toys and other related merchandise such as art, clothing, handcrafted goods, sneakers etc. The goal is to foster more of a personal interaction between artists/brands/collectors/customers in a fun setting, and build a community of people who all appreciate creativity and the arts.

ToyStreet will take place in New York City on April 2nd, 2010 from 4pm – 9pm. The location of the event is 268 Mulberry Street (Between Prince St & Houston St) and is easily accessible by a number of different subway stations. Here’s just a teaser of what to expect:

• Booths with exclusive items by respected artists/toy designers such as TooFly, Sucklord, Dave Cortes (Inu Art/Pugzee) just to name a few. Brands like GoodWood offering one time exclusive items that will only be available at ToyStreet….and many more artists/brands/toy collectors!
• Live music performances by the hard rocking Brooklyn band Shinobi Ninja and a special guest. Also, live painting by NYC street art collective URNewYork and Lee Iturbe.
• Room full of toy collectors/designers/artists/fans/vendors and people who appreciate the arts!

Bounty Hunter is the latest Japanese streetwear brand to join the Zozo ranks with the upcoming launch of their very own web presence on the popular shopping site. Expect some exclusive drops including limited edition studded chinos and a special Kidz Bounch figure. The store will open on September 16th, 2009.

Coming on the heels of the recently released Michael Lau x MINDstyle “The Godfather” toy in the original black version, MINDstyle previews a follow-up color. This time seen in white as Version 2.0, the toys look to be the tip of a busy end of the year as Michael Lau celebrates 10 years with his iconic toys. No word yet on a release date for “The Godfather” Version 2.0.

Last year we saw German plush toy company Steiff collaborate on a teddy bear with legendary fashion designer, best known for being the head designer and creative director for Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld. This year, Steiff are back with yet another high-profile release, this time in collaboration with Japanese cotton-masters, Loopwheeler. Well known for their recent work with Nike Sportswear, Loopwheeler have manufactured a miniature hoody to fit Steiff’s teddy bear. The hoody comes complete with elastic cuffs, metal zipper, chest patch and utilises screenprinting. Denim overalls and canvas sneakers are also in production for a final release. The patch was created with a ‘Germany meets Japan’ motif – paying homage to the nationalities of each collaborator. A human-size version will be previewed shortly.

Medicom Toys and the ever popular Japanese Pop-artist Takashi Murakami have collaborated to produce a vinyl figure of “Inochi” (which is based on a 2002 movie of the same name by Shinohara Tetsuo). The figure arrives with 5 different skin colourations and outfits. Each piece is limited to a run of 200, with an individual piece expected to fetch around $1500 retail. Expect an imminent release.

Last year we saw Japanese streetwear brand Bounty Hunter release their Kumaru-Kun character in vinyl form. Saturday August 29th will see the release of the same character. Whilst the face, hands and feat remain in vinyl, this time the slightly bigger version comes with soft black fur. The figure will also have movable arms, a great feature which will allow the toy to adapt whatever position you choose!

Jun Takahashi of UNDERCOVER puts us on this latest collaboration toy featuring both the work of UNDERCOVER and KAWS. Culminiating in the UNDERCOVER BEAR KAWS COMPANION, you can expect this piece of design to have a far-reach hitting various demographics as it comes in both tonal black and off-white versons. The UNDERCOVER BEAR KAWS COMPANION will release on August 28th at UNDERCOVER locations across Japan with a suggested retail price of ¥12,800 JPY (approximately $135 USD).
