Boy, oh boy, has the skate world really advanced into mainstream culture. We’ve got Terry Kennedy and Jereme Rogers rapping (?), Antwuan Dixon…er…going green…tattoo green, Chaz Ortiz on the Gatorade team, and now, following in the footsteps of skater-actor P-Rod (and after getting his nose broken by a pro hockey player), Mike Vallely is acting in an upcoming flop flick Mall Cop. Yup, that’s Mike above…with a gun…but you’re missing the best part, he’s riding a skateboard! Talk about an identity crisis - skater, rock star, or actor? With the sneaker scene getting a bit monotonous, it’s great to see Converse Skateboarding re-sparking the skate and sneaker culture. The ‘net blew up over the Cons Black & Gold Pack, now we have a never-before-seen gray colorway of the the Pro Leather model. As of now, this sneaker is just a sample, but from the popularity of the black and white colorways of the Pro Leather that released in the fall, it won’t be a surprise if this shoe becomes a reality. Previously he had been pushing the Double E low top. For 2009 he’ll be rocking a different signature kick, Check the Supra “The Vega”. This blue and black colorway is off the charts, though Supra fans seem to prefer high top kicks, true skaters know and love the low tops with extra Suprafoam cushioning and of course the vulcanized sole. Suede material seems to always be a favorite as well so these should be in high demand when the drop late this month at Supra retailers.
