Abakus Takeout is at the forefront of Philadelphia streetwear and sneaker. Located in Chinatown, Abakus is the only consignment shop here in Philadelphia. The whole concept of Abakus Takeout is set up as a mock Chinese Takeout restaurant. Their window display features mock roasted ducks hanging alongside Nike SBs and Jordans. There is even a mock-up kitchen with woks filled with SB laces and T-shirts. The story carries brands such as The Hundreds, Stussy, 10.DEEP, Orisue, Crooks, Krink, and Acapulco Gold.
Abakus Takeout and another Philadelphia icon, Mitchell & Ness, collaborated on a scully that will be release this Saturday, February 13th, to celebrate the eve of Chinese New Year. Only 50 scullies were made. The scully represents a collaboration of both street wear and the Chinese culture. The longevity symbol you see everywhere on the streets of chinatown is printed on the hat. On the front tag, there are 5 stars symbolizing the Five Star service for the concept shop along with the quote, “It gets cold, but it never gets old” …perfect timing since Philadelphia has just set its record for the “Snowiest Winter in History”.
