Babylon Cartel 2011 Line Visual Lookbook

Babylon Cartel’s Fall 2011 line, “The Varsity” centers around the educational advancement of American teenagers during the 1960’s. We drew our inspiration from photos of all races enjoying college life. American culture shifted as a children of COLOR, and many different ethnic backgrounds were awarded equal opportunity to advance their education after High School. The Sixties were regarded as the “Age of The Youth,” as 70 million children from the post-war “Baby Boom” became teenagers and young adults. The movement that shied away from the conservative 1950’s continued and eventually resulted in revolutionary ways of thinking, and furthermore resulted real change in the cultural fabric of American life. No longer content to be images of the generation ahead of them, young people wanted change. The changes affected education, moral values, lifestyles, laws, and the way we look at entertainment. And these are some of the same revolutionary ideas that continue to evolve today.
