Picking Up The Pieces in the Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy


As the mid-Atlantic region of the Unites States grapples with recovering from last week’s devastating storm, much of the world looks on with a new appreciation for the often taken for granted commodities of electricity, shelter and family. Labeled one of the most severe storms to hit the Eastern seaboard in recent history, Hurricane Sandy produced powerful winds with uncontrollable flooding that left more than eight million people in the dark and nearly 100 dead. Documenting the beginning to a long road of rebuilding, photographer Paula Nelson presents a collection of images portraying everything from burnt down beach homes to embracing neighbors.
