Josh Harris' 26North and private equity firm TJC led a $1 billion capital raise for Bruin Capital, the sports-focused investment firm founded by George Pyne in 2015. Additional undisclosed investors participated in the raise.
Bruin Capital operates as a holding company that raises capital for individual platforms rather than maintaining a dedicated fund. The firm has collected over $2 billion since its founding and has taken stakes in more than 50 companies. Bruin previously raised $600 million in 2019 from CVC Capital Partners and TJC.
The $1 billion will be deployed to invest in middle market sports businesses globally. Pyne, a former NASCAR COO and ex-president of IMG, established Bruin as one of the first private equity firms focused solely on sports. Recent investments include sports agency AS1, stadium grass technology developer PlayGreen, and Box to Box Films.
Harris co-founded Apollo Global Management and founded 26North in September 2022 after leaving Apollo. The alternative asset firm recently closed its debut private equity fund at $4.3 billion, according to a January 5, 2026 SEC filing.
