Aimé Leon Dore's next New Balance collaboration lands on a silhouette almost no one was asking for — and that is exactly why it works. The ALD x New Balance Gator "Cream" arrives Summer 2026 at $130, in unisex sizing, as part of ALD's SS26 Delivery 5.
The silhouette
The Gator is an archival New Balance model from the 1980s — a turf trainer defined by a simple, T500-adjacent upper and an aggressive lugged outsole. It has none of the name recognition of a 990 or a 997. That obscurity is the appeal: rather than recolor a silhouette the market already fights over, Teddy Santis pulled something out of the New Balance archive that arrives with no baggage and no prior owner.
The "Cream" treatment
ALD's execution is pure house style. The upper pairs hairy suede overlays with nylon underlays for textural contrast, set on a die-cut EVA midsole and rubber outsole. A nubuck-leather "N" handles the branding, and an embossed Queens crest sits on the heel — the standing reference to ALD's Flushing headquarters that turns up across the brand's New Balance work. The cream palette is the brand's default register: warm, quiet, built to be worn rather than photographed.
Why it fits the partnership
This is consistent with how Santis has run the New Balance relationship — the same instinct behind the 991 capsule, where he chose heritage over hype. ALD does not chase the loudest model on the shelf; it finds the one with a clean history and a shape that reads as old money rather than streetwear, then finishes it in a colorway that looks worn-in on day one. The Gator extends that catalog logic onto fresh ground. It releases exclusively through ALD — which keeps it scarce, on-brand, and squarely aimed at the customer who already knows the Flushing crest.
