The Air Jordan 6 "Carmine" is returning in 2027 — and if Jordan Brand keeps the same OG-faithful spec it used for the 2021 retro, this one should be worth paying attention to.
The Colorway
Carmine nubuck forms the base of the upper, with white leather overlays hitting the forefoot, mid-panel, eyelets, and heel panel. The tongue is black neoprene with that iconic pull tab, and the heel features Nike Air branding — the detail that makes this colorway's recent retros so significant. White and black midsole, icy translucent outsole. It's a clean shoe.
Why This One Matters
The Carmine is one of five original 1991 AJ6 colorways — the others being Black Infrared, White Infrared, Sport Blue, and Maroon. More specifically, it's one of three that Michael Jordan actually wore on the court, debuting during the 1991–92 opener, which happened to be Jordan's first night wearing a championship ring after beating the Lakers the previous spring.
For years, retros of this colorway used Jumpman branding instead of the original Nike Air — a detail that frustrated collectors. The 2021 retro fixed that, becoming the first version since the 1991 original to feature Nike Air on the heel. It sold out immediately and became one of the most discussed Jordan releases of that year. The 2027 edition is expected to maintain that same spec.
No Date Yet
Jordan Brand hasn't officially confirmed this one. Leak accounts are pointing to a Spring 2027 window — January through April, most likely. No style code has been assigned, no imagery has surfaced. The 2021 retro retailed at $200; expect something in the $205–$220 range when the time comes.
Wide distribution is expected when it does drop — Foot Locker, Nike SNKRS, JD Sports, Finish Line, Hibbett, and the usual suspects. Put this one on the radar now.
