Air Max Day lands on March 26, and this year's slate is the most layered Nike has put together for the holiday in years. The centerpiece is a new silhouette — the Air Liquid Max — making its full retail debut alongside a deep roster of Air Max 95 colorways, a collaborative reissue, and one genuinely forward-thinking release that points toward where Nike is taking premium footwear.

Start with the Air Liquid Max. Nike's newest Air unit silhouette is making its first wide release on Air Max Day, and it's worth watching. The shoe builds on the visible Air unit heritage of the 95 and 97 but with a redesigned upper and a translucent construction meant to emphasize the cushioning system. It's Nike flexing its product development timeline, releasing a new platform on its biggest Air holiday to maximize attention.

The Zellerfeld x Nike Air Max 1000 in "Black/Volt" is the other release worth your attention. Originally a 2025 limited drop, this reissue pairs Nike's design with Zellerfeld's 3D-printed construction — the same technology that allows for fully customizable, recyclable footwear at scale. At $220, it sits at a premium, but it's the most technically interesting shoe on Air Max Day's roster. It signals where Nike sees the premium tier of the market going: not just colorways, but manufacturing innovation.

The Air Max 95 has the largest presence on the slate. Highlights include a restock of the "Pink Foam" colorway, the annual GOAT x Division Street "Oregon Ducks" Air Max 95 "The Woods" edition ($220, IQ3986-300), the "Greedy" colorway in the new Big Bubble construction, and the "Bandana" colorway — a Southern spin on the classic Neon silhouette. The Air Max 95 "Neon" restocked earlier this month and this follow-up slate treats the 95 as the load-bearing beam of Air Max Day, which it has been for most of the last decade.
Away from Nike, New Balance is using Air Max Day's cultural moment to drop two of its own: the 1890 in black/yellow and a new colorway in the Made in USA 992 "Team Royal" series. It's a savvy counter-programming move — let Nike control the holiday, then offer something for the collector who wants premium craft over branded spectacle. The 992's Made in USA positioning continues to be one of the strongest value propositions in the market for sneaker-aware buyers who have moved past hype.
