Arsenal have reached a full agreement with Sporting CP to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres for £63.8 million, with the Swedish international given clearance to complete his move to the Emirates Stadium. The deal consists of a £55.1 million guaranteed fee plus £8.7 million in add-ons, ending a lengthy transfer saga that had dragged on for weeks due to disagreements over performance-related bonuses and payment structures. According to Sky Sports and ESPN, Gyokeres is expected to undergo a medical in London before potentially joining Arsenal's pre-season tour of Asia, with the 27-year-old having already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Gunners.
The breakthrough in negotiations came when Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, agreed to waive his commission of approximately £5.6 million to help facilitate the deal, lowering Arsenal's guaranteed payment without reducing what Sporting would receive.
Gyokeres has been Arsenal's primary striker target this summer after their pursuit of RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko stalled, with the Sweden international having scored an remarkable 97 goals in 102 matches during his two seasons at Sporting CP since joining from Coventry City for around £20 million in 2023.
The transfer represents a significant investment for Arsenal, who have also completed deals for Martin Zubimendi (£51 million), Christian Norgaard (£15 million), Kepa Arrizabalaga (£5 million), and Noni Madueke (£52 million) as part of a busy summer rebuild under manager Mikel Arteta.
