The Los Angeles Chargers are expected to hire former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator, according to ESPN.
McDaniel spent four seasons as the Dolphins head coach before being fired at the end of the 2025 season. He compiled a 35-33 record and led Miami to two playoff appearances. The Dolphins finished 7-10 in 2025. Following his dismissal from Miami, McDaniel interviewed for head coaching positions with the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders.
He also interviewed for offensive coordinator vacancies with the Detroit Lions and Tampa Buccaneers. McDaniel canceled a second interview for the Browns head coaching position on Tuesday before finalizing the agreement with the Chargers. Before joining the Dolphins, McDaniel served as offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. He will now work with Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. The Chargers fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman following the 2025 season.
