The Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, and Toronto Raptors completed a three-team trade on February 4, 2026, sending veteran guard Chris Paul to Toronto. The deal also sends Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 second-round pick, and cash to Brooklyn.
Paul, 40, appeared in 16 games for the Clippers this season, averaging 2.9 points and 3.3 assists in 14.2 minutes per game before the team announced they were parting ways in early December. His last game was December 1, 2025, against the Miami Heat.
The Raptors are not requiring Paul to report to the team and could discuss trades involving him before the February 5 trade deadline. Toronto moves below the luxury tax line by swapping Agbaji's $6.4 million expiring contract for Paul's $2.3 million salary.
The Clippers clear a roster spot and save $7 million in luxury tax payments. Brooklyn receives Agbaji, who averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 42 games this season, along with draft compensation and cash to cover his remaining salary.
Paul and Clippers head coach Ty Lue were reportedly not on speaking terms for several weeks before his departure from the team. The 12-time NBA All-Star returned to Los Angeles as a free agent last July and has stated this will be his final NBA season.
Paul ranks second in NBA history in career assists and has earned nine All-Defense selections during his 21-year career.
