Dolphins' Bayron Matos Transported by Helicopter to Hospital After Suffering Injury in Training Camp

Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Bayron Matos was airlifted to a hospital by helicopter after suffering an undisclosed injury during the final minutes of the team's first training camp practice on Wednesday. The 24-year-old second-year offensive tackle was transported in stable condition to a local medical facility, according to the team. The Dolphins did not release specific information about the nature of Matos' injury, which occurred at their Miami Gardens training facility.
Matos, a 6-foot-7, 334-pound native of Los Mina, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, joined the Dolphins in 2024 as an undrafted free agent through the NFL's International Player Pathway Program. He spent the 2024 season on Miami's practice squad before signing a reserve/future contract in January 2025. Matos played college football at South Florida after initially attending the University of New Mexico for basketball, only beginning his football career in 2022. Dolphins offensive lineman Austin Jackson called the situation "a heartbreaking part of the game" and "very tough."
