Miami Dolphins cornerback Artie Burns is feared to have suffered a torn ACL during the team's first training camp practice on Wednesday, according to multiple reports. Burns, 30, injured his knee during practice and left the facility on crutches after being evaluated by trainers. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Burns is awaiting an MRI and a second opinion to confirm the diagnosis of the injury, which occurred during positional drills at the team's Miami Gardens facility.
Burns signed a one-year contract with Miami in March after spending the previous three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. The veteran cornerback was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami. Burns has appeared in 90 NFL games over nine seasons with Pittsburgh, Chicago, Seattle, and now Miami, recording 199 combined tackles, 38 pass defenses, and four interceptions. The injury comes as the Dolphins were already thin at cornerback after trading Jalen Ramsey to Pittsburgh earlier this offseason.
