Durant Signs 2-Year, $90M Extension with Rockets

Kevin Durant has signed a two-year, $90 million contract extension with the Houston Rockets, with a player option for 2027-28, his business partner Rich Kleiman confirmed to ESPN on Sunday.
Key Details
- Durant was eligible for a maximum extension of $120 million but took approximately $30 million less
- The deal gives Durant three years and $144.7 million total on his current contract
- Durant was previously on an expiring contract worth $54.7 million for the 2025-26 season
- The extension makes Durant the highest-paid player in NBA history with $598.2 million in career earnings, surpassing LeBron James
The Rockets acquired Durant from Phoenix in a seven-team trade this offseason, sending Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and draft picks to the Suns. Houston finished as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference last season with 50-plus wins.
The 37-year-old Durant is a 15-time All-Star entering his 19th NBA season.
