Eagles QB Jalen Hurts explains refusal to wear Super Bowl ring at Super Bowl Ring Event

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has explained his decision not to wear his Super Bowl LIX ring despite being named MVP of the championship game. When asked about his refusal to wear the ring, Hurts told reporters Wednesday, "I've moved on to the new year. It's as simple as that." The 26-year-old quarterback led the Eagles to a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, finishing with 293 total yards and three touchdowns in the blowout win.

Hurts is keeping the past behind him as he focuses on the upcoming season, adopting a "new team, new goals" mindset as training camp begins. The Super Bowl MVP performance was career-defining for Hurts, who completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, while also rushing for 72 yards and a touchdown. This made Hurts only the seventh quarterback in NFL history to make two Super Bowl appearances within his first five seasons, joining elite company including Tom Brady, Troy Aikman, Ben Roethlisberger, Kurt Warner, Russell Wilson, and Patrick Mahomes.
