Industry Veteran Returns to Automotive Roots
Ford Motor Company has appointed Alicia Boler Davis as president of Ford Pro, effective October 1, succeeding interim leader Andrew Frick. Davis, who was born in Detroit with family members including her father and grandfather who previously worked at Ford, described the role as feeling like a culmination of her automotive and technology experience.
Davis brings more than 30 years of experience in automotive and technology sectors. She spent 25 years at General Motors, rising from manufacturing engineer to Executive Vice President of Global Manufacturing and Labor Relations, where she oversaw 22 vehicle launches and managed 150 facilities in 20 countries. She was the first Black woman to become a plant manager at GM.
Most recently, she served as CEO of Alto Pharmacy, which grew to over $1 billion in revenue before being acquired in March. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment at Amazon, overseeing 800,000 employees and the company's fulfillment center network during the pandemic.
Ford Pro's Strategic Importance
Ford Pro reported $9.015 billion in operating income in 2024, up 25% year-over-year, with a 13.5% operating margin. The division represents Ford's most profitable business unit and is critical to the company's transformation strategy. Ford Pro reported a more than 40% increase since 2023 in connected commercial vehicles to 5.2 million, positioning the company at the forefront of fleet digitization.
Ford Pro anticipates generating $45 billion in revenue from hardware and adjacent services by 2025, up from $27 billion in 2019. The division combines vehicles, software, charging infrastructure, and services to help commercial customers reduce operating costs and increase fleet uptime.
Ford President and CEO Jim Farley praised Davis's "unique skillset and experiences" as ideal for guiding Ford Pro "into the next era – accelerating our move into software and services and growing Ford Pro's already strong profitability". Her appointment comes as the commercial vehicle sector increasingly emphasizes connectivity, electrification, and integrated service solutions—areas where her diverse background spanning manufacturing, logistics, and digital health services positions her well to lead Ford's expansion.
