Four players were ejected after a fight between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards spilled into the front-row seating area at Capital One Arena during Saturday night's game, March 21, 2026. Oklahoma City won 132-111.
The altercation began with 27 seconds left in the first half after Washington's Anthony Gill converted a basket. Thunder center Jaylin Williams and Wizards forward Justin Champagnie began shoving each other near the baseline. Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell then pushed Champagnie, who appeared to make contact with Mitchell's face. The confrontation escalated, and several players were driven into the seats behind the basket stanchion before officials intervened. A courtside photographer was bowled over in the process.
After a lengthy video review, officials assessed Champagnie and Williams each two technical fouls, resulting in automatic ejections. Mitchell and Thunder guard Cason Wallace each received one technical foul and were also ejected for escalating the altercation. MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was seen pulling Mitchell away from the scrum. Gill was not disciplined at the time of the game, though further NBA review remained possible.
Washington received two free throws from the incident. Oklahoma City led 69-64 at halftime despite losing three players before the break. The Thunder held on to win by 21. No additional suspensions or fines from the league had been announced at the time of publication.
