African Architecture: ‘A First Draft Is a First Draft’ Kuukuwa Manful’s First Draft
Ghanaian architect, Kuukuwa Manful, hopes her work re-evaluates the discourse and study of African architecture: ‘I hope my work reframes how we talk about and study architecture across the continent through a concept I call unformalization. I want to challenge dichotomies around formal and informal architecture by arguing that many African architectures were deliberately unformalized.’
