It is a baseball-soaked Tuesday with 14 MLB games on the board, but the night's center of gravity is in Indianapolis. Caitlin Clark is healthy and playing her best basketball of the year, and the WNBA's newest team is in town. Add a defending World Series champion under the lights and a few World Cup matches earlier in the day, and there is plenty to pick from.
Marquee: Toronto Tempo at Indiana Fever, Clark vs. Canada's new team (7:00 PM ET, MeTV / TSN)
The Tempo are the WNBA's first franchise based outside the United States, an expansion club out of Toronto coached by two-time champion Sandy Brondello and built around former Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey. They have hung around at 7-7. The Fever (8-5) are the better team and the reason to tune in. Clark is listed as probable with the back issue that has shadowed her all season, but she has looked like herself lately, averaging 25.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists over a three-game win streak. Indiana is short-handed in the backcourt with Raven Johnson questionable on a tweaked ankle, so expect the ball in Clark's hands early and often. Vegas line: Fever -6.5, total 178.5, Fever moneyline -305 (ESPN).

- Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM ET, ESPN). The national night cap. The Dodgers are defending champs and sitting atop the NL West, and the Rays have hung close to the Yankees in the AL East all year. This is the best matchup of two contenders on the slate.
- San Diego Padres at St. Louis Cardinals (7:45 PM ET, TBS). Yu Darvish takes the ball for San Diego on the national broadcast. The Padres are chasing the Dodgers in the West, and a road series in St. Louis is the kind of test that separates wild-card hopefuls from pretenders.
- Chicago White Sox at New York Yankees (7:05 PM ET, YES). The Yankees lead the AL East and get a White Sox club still finding its footing. New York will be heavily favored, but the Bronx is always worth a look when the lineup is rolling.
- San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves (7:15 PM ET, NBC Bay Area / Braves Vision). Atlanta has the best record in the NL East and one of the deeper rotations in the league. The Giants are a stubborn road team, which makes this a quietly good pitching watch.
- Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox (6:45 PM ET, NESN / Sportsnet). An AL East rivalry game at Fenway to open the evening slate. Division games in this division are never quiet, and the early start makes it the appetizer before the rest of the night kicks off.
There is also World Cup action on the schedule, with Senegal vs. France, Norway vs. Iraq and Algeria vs. Argentina all carried on FOX, Telemundo and Peacock. Check the tiles for exact kickoff times.
