The World Cup Round of 16 is on US soil today, and it delivers two heavyweight knockouts before the domestic slate even warms up. Spain and Portugal settle an Iberian grudge in Dallas at 3pm ET, and the host United States draws Belgium in Seattle at night. Around it sits a full MLB Monday and three WNBA games, so there is something live from early afternoon until past midnight.
World Cup today
- Spain vs Portugal (3:00 PM ET, FOX/Telemundo). Two Iberian giants meet in a single-elimination match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Winner moves on to the quarterfinals, loser goes home. There is no bigger neighbor-versus-neighbor draw left in the bracket.
- Belgium vs USA (8:00 PM ET, FOX/Telemundo). The host nation reaches the Round of 16 and gets Belgium at Lumen Field in Seattle. A home crowd, a night kickoff, and a place in the quarterfinals on the line. This is the game the whole country will be watching.
Marquee: Yankees at Rays, the AL East on the line (6:40 PM ET, MLB.TV)
The Rays own the AL East at 52-35 and have handled the Yankees all season, taking four of five so far with every game decided by a run or two. New York sits four games back and has lost nine of its last 10, an offense still missing Aaron Judge, out since June 5. Cam Schlittler and his 2.08 ERA give the Yankees a real chance to stop the slide against Griffin Jax and the Rays. This is the division gap either widening or tightening in a single night, and the two teams know each other cold.

Also tonight
- Brewers at Cardinals (7:45 PM ET). Milwaukee brings the best record in baseball at 55-33 into St. Louis for an NL Central test. The Cardinals sit above .500 and would love to put a dent in the division leader. This is the most consequential MLB matchup of the night after the marquee.
- Phillies at Royals (2:10 PM ET). An early day game with the best arm on the slate. Cristopher Sanchez takes a 2.00 ERA and a 10-3 record to Kansas City for Philadelphia. The Royals are well out of the race at 36-54, so this one is about the pitcher.
- Mets at Braves (7:15 PM ET). Atlanta has quietly built a 52-36 record while the Mets have fallen apart at 37-53. The rivalry is one-sided right now, but the names still draw eyes and New York needs to stop the bleeding.
- Rockies at Dodgers (10:10 PM ET). The Dodgers own the NL's best record at 59-32 and host a Colorado team buried at 37-54. A late-night mismatch on paper, but a good window if you are still up after the World Cup.
- Sun at Lynx (8:00 PM ET). Minnesota is the class of the WNBA at 15-5 and hosts a Connecticut side at 4-16. Not close on paper, but the Lynx are a title contender worth checking in on.
- Valkyries at Mystics (7:30 PM ET). Golden State has been a surprise at 14-7 and visits a rebuilding Washington team. A chance to see whether the Valkyries are for real against a lighter opponent.
