Sunday's slate is stacked. Fifteen games on the board, and the Yankees try to close out a series sweep in Philadelphia on Sunday Night Baseball. Earlier in the day, the Dodgers, still the best record in the sport, visit a reeling Mets team, and the Brewers try to hang onto the best record in the National League against Colorado.
Marquee: Yankees at Phillies (7:20 PM ET, NBC/Peacock)
New York has already taken the first two games of this series: a 1-0 shutout on Thursday and a 3-1 win Saturday. Now they try to finish the sweep in prime time. Philadelphia leans on its ace to stop it. Cristopher Sanchez is 12-4 with a 2.65 ERA and 151 strikeouts, and he's facing a Yankees lineup that has managed just four runs across two games. New York counters with Will Warren, 7-4 with a 4.00 ERA. Sanchez has been one of the better arms in the National League all year, which is why the sportsbooks still have Philadelphia favored at home despite the skid.
Vegas line: Phillies -193 (Yankees +158), run line Phillies -1.5 (+114), total 8 (via ESPN/DraftKings).
Also tonight
- Dodgers at Mets (1:40 PM ET). Los Angeles carries the best record in baseball at 67-38 into Citi Field against a Mets team playing 24 games under .500. A lineup with Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman against a team that's already out of the race is about as lopsided as this slate gets on paper.
- Rockies at Brewers (2:10 PM ET). Milwaukee's 65-39 mark is the best record in the National League, and a win keeps the pressure on the Dodgers atop the overall standings. Colorado, 23 games under .500, is about as soft a matchup as the Brewers will see this month.
- Cubs at Pirates (1:35 PM ET). Chicago is 59-45 and fighting to hold a playoff spot in a crowded NL field. Pittsburgh is out of contention, which makes this a get-right series for a Cubs offense that needs to keep pace into August.
- Astros at White Sox (2:10 PM ET, ESPN). Houston is 52-54 but still within range of an AL wild card spot, and this is the only other nationally televised game today.
- Guardians at Rays (12:15 PM ET, Peacock). First pitch of the day. Cleveland and Tampa Bay are both hovering around .500 with about ten weeks left to make a wild card case.
The trade deadline is close, and every team above is making a decision about who they are. The Yankees and Dodgers already know. Everybody else finds out over the next few weeks, starting with tonight.
