Tampa Bay walks into Yankee Stadium with a magic number of two and two games to play. One win in either half of today's doubleheader and the AL East is theirs. The National League gets its own heavyweight late, with the Padres at the Dodgers, and the WNBA's two best records outside Las Vegas meet in Indianapolis.
Marquee: Rays at Yankees, Game 2, AL East on the line (7:05 PM ET, TBS)
The Rays (95-60) lead the Yankees (89-66) by six with seven left for New York, so a single head-to-head win ends it. If Tampa Bay wins the 1:05 PM opener, the nightcap is a party. If the Yankees take Game 1, this one carries the whole division. The pitching fits the stakes: Max Fried (2.63 ERA) for New York against Drew Rasmussen (15-5, 2.72) for Tampa Bay. The Rays are 55-26 on the road, best in baseball, and the market still makes the Yankees a home favorite with the lowest total on the board.

- Padres at Dodgers (10:10 PM ET, TBS). Yoshinobu Yamamoto against Michael King. Los Angeles (96-60) sits nine up on San Diego (87-69), so this is more October preview than pennant race, and it is a good one.
- Brewers at Phillies (6:40 PM ET). Milwaukee owns the best record in baseball at 98-58. Zack Wheeler gets the ball for Philadelphia against Dustin May.
- Lynx at Fever (8:00 PM ET, ESPN). Minnesota (32-10) has the league's best record. Indiana (27-15) gets them at home in the national window.
- Valkyries at Fire (10:00 PM ET). Golden State (31-11) visits expansion Portland. The Valkyries are one game behind Minnesota.
- Islanders at Rangers (7:00 PM ET, MSG). Preseason, but it's a New York rivalry at the Garden, with Ilya Sorokin in net for the Islanders.
It's a Bronx night. The Rays have spent all year as the best road team in baseball, and now they get to prove it in the one building where a clinch would sting the most.
