The Milwaukee Brewers are one win from the World Series. After blanking the Dodgers' bats for a 6-2 win in Game 3, Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell's back-to-back seventh-inning homers put Los Angeles on the brink of elimination, down 3-0 in the NLCS. Tonight's Game 4 at Dodger Stadium decides whether the two-time defending champions stay alive or whether Milwaukee punches its first World Series ticket since 1982. Elsewhere, the NBA tips off its new season with OKC's reigning champs on the road, the Rays and Guardians keep grinding through the ALCS, and a full NHL and Thursday Night Football slate round out the night.
Marquee: Brewers at Dodgers, NLCS Game 4 (8:00 PM ET, FS1)
Milwaukee sends an undecided starter to the mound carrying all the momentum, a 103-59 regular season and a 4-0 road record this postseason. Los Angeles counters with Tyler Glasnow, who has a 1.93 ERA this postseason, in a must-win spot. No team has ever rallied from down 3-0 in the NLCS, and the Dodgers' bats have gone quiet against a Brewers pitching staff that has allowed one run or fewer in three of four games this series. If Milwaukee's bullpen holds again, the Brewers are headed to their first World Series in 44 years.
Vegas line (via ESPN): Dodgers -157 moneyline (Brewers +130), total 7.5, Dodgers -1.5 run line (+138) / Brewers +1.5 (-168).
Also tonight
- Rays at Guardians (1:00 PM ET, TBS/truTV). The ALCS keeps going in the early window, with Cleveland sending Gavin Williams (1.54 ERA) against Tampa Bay's Griffin Jax. Both bullpens have been worked hard already this series.
- Raptors at Knicks (7:30 PM ET). Opening night for both clubs, with Toronto banged up (Ingram and others questionable) against a Knicks team leaning on Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, who are both listed day-to-day.
- Sabres at Maple Leafs (7:00 PM ET, ESPN+/MSGB). Buffalo opens its season on the road in Toronto without Rasmus Dahlin.
- Seahawks at Broncos (8:15 PM ET, Prime Video). Thursday Night Football pits Seattle's offense against a Denver defense dealing with its own injury questions.
- Thunder at Rockets (8:30 PM ET, NBA TV). The defending champion Thunder open their title defense on the road against a Houston team retooled around Kevin Durant, who's questionable to start the season.
Baseball's postseason and the NBA's opening night are colliding on the same calendar square tonight. If the Brewers finish the sweep, Milwaukee's bandwagon gets a lot bigger by midnight. If OKC stumbles out of the gate in Houston, the "are the Thunder actually built to repeat" conversation starts early.
