Thirteen NFL games spill across the Sunday slate, the unbeaten 49ers are on the road trying to stay perfect, and Real Madrid hosts Barcelona in El Clasico. But the one circled on every calendar in the AFC is in Seattle, where the Chiefs are 5-0 and the Seahawks are out for revenge on the man who just left them.
Marquee: Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks (8:20 PM ET, NBC)
Kansas City is 5-0 for the first time in years, and a lot of that has to do with a running back Seattle used to own. Kenneth Walker III left the Seahawks for Kansas City in free agency after winning Super Bowl MVP there, and he leads the NFL in rushing with 665 yards through five games. Sunday night he returns to Lumen Field for the first time since that title run. Walker has been playing it cool in the lead-up, telling reporters he's focused on Kansas City's own mistakes rather than the homecoming storyline, but Patrick Mahomes has already called it an emotional one for his teammate. Seattle, 3-3 and coming off a bad Thursday night loss to Denver where Sam Darnold threw multiple picks, needs this one to steady a season that's drifted since the Super Bowl parade. Both teams are banged up: Kansas City is watching tackle Josh Simmons and receiver Rashee Rice on the injury report, while Seattle is without tight end Elijah Arroyo for the long term and has Chazz Surratt and Drake Thomas questionable.
Vegas line: Seahawks -3, total 42.5, Chiefs moneyline +120 (via ESPN).
Also tonight
- Real Madrid vs Barcelona (El Clasico, ABC/ESPN Deportes/ESPN+). La Liga's biggest rivalry doesn't need a playoff stake to matter. Real Madrid hosts Barcelona with first place in Spain on the line, and the broadcast alone will outdraw most of today's American sports.
- San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons (1:00 PM ET, FOX). San Francisco is the NFL's last unbeaten team at 6-0 and travels to a 2-4 Atlanta team that's lost at home every week this season. The 49ers are favored by 4.5 to keep the perfect record alive.
- Los Angeles Lakers at Utah Jazz (5:00 PM ET, NBA League Pass). An early-season road trip for the Lakers against a rebuilding Jazz team that's still finding its rotation.
- LA Clippers at Oklahoma City Thunder (7:00 PM ET, NBA League Pass). Oklahoma City hosts a shorthanded Clippers team, with Bradley Beal among several out.
- Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions (4:25 PM ET, FOX). An NFC North game with real seeding weight this early, Green Bay at 4-2 and Detroit at 3-2.
- Florida Panthers at Chicago Blackhawks (3:00 PM ET, ESPN+). An afternoon matinee between a Panthers team still chasing the East's top tier and a Blackhawks squad leaning on its young core.
Seattle hasn't lost its swagger since the parade, but Sunday night is the first real measuring stick against a team that's better than its record suggests it should be this early. Whatever happens at Lumen Field, Kansas City leaves town either 6-0 or finally beatable, and either answer changes how the rest of the AFC plays the next six weeks.
