Editor's note: these picks are Vegas lines, not our own gut calls, until the watch.uristocrat.com picks model ships. The marquee carries a real sportsbook line. Everything else is a preview with no attached pick.
Monday night belongs to the NFC East, even with the matchup gutted. Nine NBA games, three NHL tilts, a World Series tune-up in Tampa and a WNBA Finals rematch round out the rest of the slate, but Cowboys-Eagles is the name on the marquee.
Marquee: Cowboys at Eagles (8:15 PM EDT, ESPN/ABC/Disney+)
Both teams arrive at 2-4, which says plenty about how far this rivalry has fallen from its usual stakes. Dallas has lost two straight and ranks third-to-last in the league in yards allowed per game. Philadelphia's problem is bigger: Jalen Hurts is out for the rest of the season after doctors found blood clots that spread to his lungs, and Tanner McKee is now the full-time starter at the Linc. McKee went 26-of-45 for 215 yards and a touchdown in his first start, a 25-14 loss to Carolina, so this is effectively a prove-it game for a backup quarterback trying to hold a playoff hope together. Watch for DeMarvion Overshown, back for Dallas after missing five games with a hamstring injury, to try to make McKee's night miserable early.
Vegas line: Eagles -4.5 (-108), Cowboys +4.5 (-112), total 43.5, Eagles moneyline -205, Cowboys moneyline +170, via ESPN.
Also tonight
- Suns at Thunder (8:00 PM EDT). Defending West favorites Oklahoma City host Phoenix with Chet Holmgren and the NBA's deepest roster trying to shake off a slow start to the week.
- Warriors at Nuggets (10:00 PM EDT). Golden State is banged up against a Denver team that's healthy and at home. Late West Coast tip closes the NBA board.
- Brewers at Rays (8:00 PM EDT, FOX). Milwaukee's bullpen depth against Tampa Bay, with Shane McClanahan unavailable for the Rays, in a game that reads like a late-October tune-up before the real stretch run.
- Dream at Valkyries (8:00 PM EDT, NBC). Golden State's first-year franchise hosting Atlanta on national TV, a measuring-stick game for the Valkyries as they build a roster identity in year one.
- Kings at Rangers (7:00 PM EDT). Los Angeles without Quinton Byfield visits a Rangers team still finding its scoring touch early in the season.
- Mavericks at Heat (7:30 PM EDT). Dallas is missing Kyrie Irving and a stack of rotation pieces, which makes this one of the lighter NBA cards on the board tonight.
Eagles fans have had a brutal month and tonight doesn't offer much relief on paper. But McKee gets a get-right spot against a Dallas defense that's been bleeding yards all year, and if he finds it, this line moves fast in the second half.
