James Harden moved into ninth place on the NBA's all-time scoring list Monday night, passing Shaquille O'Neal during the Los Angeles Clippers' 117-109 victory over the Charlotte Hornets at Intuit Dome.
Harden reached the milestone with a 3-pointer early in the third quarter, pushing his career total to 28,598 points. He finished the game with 32 points and 10 assists, bringing his total to 28,614 points in his 1,187th regular-season game. O'Neal recorded 28,596 points across 1,207 games over 19 seasons.
The 36-year-old guard entered the night 14 points behind O'Neal and is averaging 25.6 points per game this season, his highest mark since the 2019-20 campaign. Harden now trails Wilt Chamberlain, who sits eighth with 31,419 points in 1,045 games.
