LEGO's Luigi & Mach 8 Mario Kart Set Is Built for the Adults Who Never Stopped Racing

LEGO dropped a new set on March 10 — MAR10 Day, Nintendo's annual celebration of its most iconic franchise — and it's the one collectors have been waiting for since last year's Mario & Standard Kart set landed. The LEGO Mario Kart: Luigi & Mach 8 (set #72050) is 2,234 pieces of detailed, posable, interactive build goodness, arriving for $179.99 on April 1, 2026, with pre-orders open now.

This is the first-ever large-scale LEGO recreation of the Mach 8 — Luigi's signature kart from Mario Kart 8 and MK8 Deluxe, the turbine-shaped vehicle that's been a go-to for competitive players for over a decade. The set places a posable Luigi figure (movable head, arms, and hands) behind the wheel, and the whole build measures 10 inches tall, 16 inches long, and 9 inches wide. That's a substantial desk piece. LEGO also built in genuine interactive mechanics: turning the steering wheel moves the front wheels, spinning the rear wheels activates the flame exhaust, and the kart can be removed from its display stand entirely and rolled forward. The stand itself positions the kart at a mid-drift angle, which captures the chaos of Mario Kart better than any static display base has a right to.

Pre-order at LEGO.com now. Full retail launch April 1.
