Key Points

  • ESSX opened an East Hampton pop-up at 53 The Circle, running through October 2026.
  • The Lower East Side concept store extends its 140 Essex Street flagship to the Hamptons.
  • Brands include Acne Studios, Our Legacy, Maison Margiela, and Willy Chavarria.
  • CMO Jacob Metzger frames it as extending the Lower East Side beyond New York.

The Lower East Side is summering in the Hamptons. ESSX, the Essex Street concept store that has become a downtown fashion destination, opened a seasonal pop-up at 53 The Circle in East Hampton, running through October 2026.

What's on the racks

The pop-up carries the same directional mix that built ESSX's downtown reputation: Acne Studios, Our Legacy, Enfants Riches Déprimés, Maison Margiela, and Willy Chavarria, alongside exclusive product and rotating activations. It is a compressed version of the flagship, tuned for a beach-season crowd.

The downtown-to-Hamptons play

"This project is about extending the Lower East Side beyond New York, bringing the energy and community," CMO Jacob Metzger said. The move follows a familiar summer migration — the downtown crowd decamps east, and the retail follows it — but ESSX is betting its specific point of view travels, not just its label list. The Hamptons already have luxury boutiques; what they lack is a store with downtown taste.

Why it works

A seasonal pop-up is low-risk brand extension: test a new market for a few months, keep the community programming that makes ESSX more than a shop, and leave before the off-season. The same downtown sensibility shows up in the product it trades in, like Supreme x MM6 Maison Margiela. If it lands, the Lower East Side gets a second address every summer.
