Luka Doncic put up 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists Sunday afternoon as the Los Angeles Lakers handled the New York Knicks 110-97 at Crypto.com Arena.
Doncic was the engine all game, going 11-of-25 from the field with five threes and eight free throw attempts. Austin Reaves added a efficient 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting — 50 percent from three — with 5 assists and 3 steals off the bench. Rui Hachimura chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds.
The game was decided in the third quarter. After the Knicks trimmed the deficit and trailed by just five going into the half, the Lakers went on a 34-20 third quarter that put it away. LA led by as many as 23 points and held the Knicks to just 23.5 percent from three (8-of-34).
For New York, Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with 25 points and 16 rebounds on an efficient night — 8-of-17 from the field, a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line — but the Knicks couldn't get out of their own way. Jalen Brunson scored 24 but turned the ball over seven times as New York finished with 19 total turnovers, leading to 21 Lakers points off giveaways.
Mikal Bridges went scoreless on six shot attempts. The Lakers improve with the win as they gear up for a stretch run. The Knicks fall back to looking for answers on the road.
