Ckay — BANGER BOY
Ckay's third studio album marks a self-described reinvention: the Afrobeats star behind "Love Nwantiti" swaps his soft-boy "Africa's Boyfriend" persona for a rockstar-minded era built around heartbreak, electric guitars and club-ready production. The 12-track BANGER BOY, out via CKay Holdings under exclusive license to AWAL, folds in "BODY (danz)" featuring Mavo — originally released as a standalone single in October 2025 — alongside the rollout's more recent singles "AFRICAN GIRLS" (with Kidd Carder) and "E CLEAR." The album also carries features from Phyno, Maleek Berry and Ghana's King Promise, with production from Cixxx, BMH, Fez and Vishem.
Beyoncé — MORNING DEW (DONK) REMIX PACK
Beyoncé's four-track MORNING DEW (DONK) REMIX PACK dropped in the early hours of August 4, expanding the "Morning Dew (Donk)" single she gave fans as a Fourth of July surprise. Two of the four versions feature Jay-Z, who delivers his first new verse in over two years — a rare re-team that Parkwood built on samples of Soulja Boy's "Donk" and the Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets," plus an interpolation of Sheck Wes' "Mo Bamba." The original song kicked off a countdown to the 20th-anniversary reissue of B'Day, due September 4.
Whitney Houston — WH1TNEY
The Whitney Houston estate marked the singer's catalog with WH1TNEY, a collection built around her eleven Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles — from "I Will Always Love You" to "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" — pressed on grape-colored vinyl through Arista/Legacy. A companion WH1TNEY (Expanded Edition), running 27 tracks, arrived on streaming the same day.
Dinner Party — Whatchu Bringing?
The jazz supergroup of Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington and 9th Wonder returned with Whatchu Bringing?, a nine-track album via Sounds of Crenshaw/EMPIRE. Singer Phoelix appears on seven of the nine tracks, including lead single "If It Ain't Broke (Love Wins)," and Kamasi Washington's sister Amani Washington designed the cover, continuing a role she's held on the group's past projects.
Ruger — R.U. (Raw & Unfiltered), Vol. 1
Ruger's R.U. (Raw & Unfiltered), Vol. 1 is a six-track EP via Blownboy Entertainment, under exclusive license to Promised Land Recordings, blending Afrobeats and Amapiano across "She Don't Like Men," "Private Chef" (with MC Morena) and "Do Nothing," a collaboration with South African hitmakers Musa Keys and Young Stunna.
FLO — Therapy at the Club
FLO's second album reimagines the club as a site of confession, release and self-possession across the arc of a night out, moving through desire, heartbreak, confidence and healing. The 16-track set — released through EMI/Universal — pairs the trio's harmonies with 2000s-leaning R&B-pop production, reconnecting them with Sevyn Streeter, Oak Felder and Skippz alongside newer collaborators Amy Allen, Steph Jones, Julian Bunetta and Boy Matthews. It follows FLO's 2023 debut, Access All Areas.
Pooh Shiesty — All Eyes on Shiest
Pooh Shiesty's new album is his first full project since his early release from federal prison in October 2025, where he served time on a firearms conspiracy charge tied to a 2022 guilty plea. The 17-track set arrives via 1017 Global and Atlantic Records and leans on Memphis talent — GloRilla, K Carbon, BIG30 and the late Tay Keith all feature — led by the single "Last Man Breathin."
Overmono — Pure Devotion
The Welsh brothers' second album follows 2023's Good Lies and was built to capture the physical space of their studio, using synths from the 1970s and '80s alongside an old train-announcement speaker. The 11-track record, out via XL Recordings, features vocal turns from John Joseph Holt, Kindora, Rock Floyd and Ruthven across a tighter, more song-focused version of Overmono's electronic sound.

The week in context
August 7 turned into one of 2026's most crowded release Fridays, spanning a Nigerian Afrobeats reinvention (Ckay), a jazz-supergroup reunion (Dinner Party), a Whitney Houston catalog event, and a surprise Beyoncé–Jay-Z reunion that doubles as a countdown to September's B'Day anniversary reissue. Ckay and Ruger releasing the same day put two Afrobeats projects in one roundup for the first time in recent weeks. Pooh Shiesty's album is his first full project since an October 2025 release from federal prison, and three more albums — from FLO, Overmono and Ravyn Lenae — are second or third full-lengths following a project from the last two to three years.
