This week's New Music Friday is a two-album story: John Legend and Pharrell's joint LP Muse, and Anderson .Paak and Cordae's team-up Heavy Is The Crown, both out October 23.
Uristocrat — New Music Friday, October 23: Muse and Heavy Is The Crown
John Legend & Pharrell — Muse
Muse is John Legend's first full-length collaboration with Pharrell Williams, who produces and co-writes across the 16-track album. It's Legend's first album since 2022's Legend, and features Clipse on "Bodies On The Floor" — their first studio appearance together since Clipse's own 2025 reunion album Let God Sort Em Out, which Pharrell also produced.
Anderson .Paak & Cordae — Heavy Is The Crown
Heavy Is The Crown is the first full joint project from Anderson .Paak and Cordae, following their 2024 one-off single "Summer Drop." The 11-track album arrives as Paak continues to split time between his own catalog and his Silk Sonic work with Bruno Mars, while Cordae — a former XXL Freshman and two-time Grammy nominee — returns to a guest-heavy format after 2022's From a Birds Eye View.
Singles & tracks worth pulling
- Clipse, "Bodies On The Floor" (feat. on Muse) — their first studio appearance since reuniting on 2025's Let God Sort Em Out.
- Tobe Nwigwe, THE BRIDGE — his latest project, released October 8, still finding its footing on streaming this month and worth a late look for anyone who missed it.
The week in context
Both lead releases are duo projects rather than solo albums — a continuation of the pairing trend that defined 2025 (Clipse x Pharrell, Silk Sonic) more than a reflection of two artists working alone.
