Nike used Paris Fashion Week to debut a new silhouette from its '90s basketball archive: the Air Bakin Low. The shoe takes the bones of the original high-top — the same midsole shape, the same diamond-shaped tongue badge — and cuts the upper down into a low-profile frame built for off-court wear.
The shoe
The upper is noticeably different from its taller sibling. Leather side panels carry web-like cutouts in green, backed by purple mesh underlays that give the shoe a retro Nike ACG energy rather than the aggressive basketball posture of the original. A hairy suede toe cap adds texture up front. The overall read is outdoor-adjacent — closer to a trail-inspired lifestyle shoe than a court shoe with the collar removed.
The original Air Bakin OG, designed by Eric Avar and made famous by Tim Hardaway on the Miami Heat, is already returning in its Varsity Red colorway for Fall 2026 at $170. The Low sits in a different lane: less nostalgia play, more forward-looking silhouette extension.
