Nike Air Liquid Max Returns in 'Bright Crimson' for $220

Key Points

  • "Bright Crimson"/Fire Red colorway of the Air Liquid Max, $220 (IQ7634-002)
  • Released in select markets May 29, with a wider rollout following
  • Black three-layer textured printed mesh upper with a metallic gold Swoosh
  • The signature Air Liquid Max unit stays blacked-out

The Air Liquid Max was the silhouette Nike built its 2026 Air Max Day around, and it is now moving from concept piece to closet staple. The "Bright Crimson" colorway gives the new model its most aggressive general-release look yet, priced at $220 under style code IQ7634-002.

What it looks like

The build starts black and heats up from there. A three-layer textured printed mesh coats the upper in a mix of red hues, metallic gold fills the Swoosh and tongue branding, and the defining Air Liquid Max unit is kept blacked-out so the color does the talking above the sole rather than through it. The colorway carries the Bright Crimson, Fire Red, and Team Red tones across the mesh, and it released in select markets on May 29 ahead of a wider rollout.

The silhouette

The Air Liquid Max is Nike's newest Air Max evolution, designed around a full-length contoured Air pod unit the brand describes as point-loaded — engineered to mimic the sensation of walking on air. It debuted earlier this year with collaborators getting first crack, most notably Hiroshi Fujiwara, who took the first Air Liquid Max collaboration and deliberately did almost nothing with it. "Bright Crimson" is the opposite move: a loud, in-line colorway built to sell the silhouette to people who don't care who designed it.

The read

A new Air Max model lives or dies on whether the general-release colorways carry it once the collaborations fade. The Fragment and concept drops established the silhouette as a connoisseur object; "Bright Crimson" is the test of whether it works as an everyday $220 sneaker. The blacked-out Air unit is the tell — Nike is still being careful about how much of the new cushioning it shows, letting the upper sell the shoe while the technology stays slightly hidden. The Air Liquid Max is no longer a teaser; it is a product line.
