The Nike Kobe 6 Protro "Total Orange" release is part of Nike's Protro series, which stands for "Performance Retro," indicating upgraded technology within classic silhouettes that maintain their original aesthetic integrity. The release coincides with WNBA All-Star Weekend 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sneaker fans will be able to get the Kobe 6 “Total Orange” on July 18th for $190 via Nike SNKRS, retailers, and boutiques, nearly all of which are holding raffles.

The Kobe 6 originally debuted in 2010 during Kobe Bryant's championship season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The model introduced Nike's low-top basketball shoe philosophy, challenging the traditional high-top construction that dominated the sport. This design approach influenced an entire generation of basketball footwear, making the Kobe 6 a foundational piece in modern basketball shoe evolution.
The "Total Orange" colorway features a vibrant orange upper constructed from engineered mesh and synthetic materials, with black accents on the Swoosh, heel counter, and outsole. The color scheme draws inspiration from basketball's traditional orange aesthetic while maintaining the model's sleek, performance-oriented design language. The snake-scale texture pattern, a signature element of the Kobe line, remains prominent throughout the upper construction.
Nike's Protro technology updates include enhanced Zoom Air cushioning in the forefoot and heel, improved traction patterns on the outsole, and modernized materials that provide better breathability and support. These updates address the original model's performance limitations while preserving the design elements that made it culturally significant.
