Nike Renames World Headquarters After Co-Founder Phil Knight
Nike honors co-founder Phil Knight by renaming its Beaverton headquarters the Philip H. Knight Campus—a tribute to the visionary who built a global movement.

Nike is renaming its 400-acre Beaverton, Oregon headquarters to honor co-founder Philip H. Knight, effective immediately.
The newly christened Philip H. Knight Campus celebrates the vision of Nike's first employee—the man who transformed a startup into a global symbol of athletic innovation. CEO Elliott Hill announced the change on his first anniversary, calling it "more than a name change" but rather "a tribute to the man whose vision created a global movement."
Knight's influence runs deep through the campus architecture itself. Drawing inspiration from traditional college layouts, he designed the headquarters with communal buildings, natural spaces, and recreation facilities. The first buildings, dedicated in 1990, bore the names of elite athletes like Michael Jordan and Joan Benoit Samuelson—a tradition that continues today with the LeBron James Innovation Center and Serena Williams Building.
The campus has grown from six buildings to more than 40, mirroring Nike's explosive expansion from a Portland-area operation to a global powerhouse with headquarters spanning three continents.
Nike plans to celebrate the renaming with an event honoring Knight in spring 2026. New signage will roll out over the coming year, but the message is clear now: this campus embodies the founder's mentality—restless, bold, and forever believing in what's possible.
