Julius Jones Jr., the four-star St. Thomas Aquinas wideout ranked No. 75 nationally in the 247Sports Composite, committed to Notre Dame live on The Pat McAfee Show on June 22 — then his younger brother Andre, a four-star 2028 safety, did the same on the spot.
The prospect
Jones Jr. is a 5-10, 170-pound slot receiver out of Fort Lauderdale who runs a 10.52-second 100 meters. He caught 58 passes for 876 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior while St. Thomas Aquinas won its seventh straight Florida state championship. ESPN rates him their No. 9 wide receiver in the 2027 class. On3 named him MVP of the Under Armour Future 50 camp. He chose Notre Dame over finalists Miami and Oregon from a list of 44 offers including Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, and Penn State.
The bloodline
The legacy angle is not ceremonial. Julius Jones Sr. is Notre Dame's sixth-leading career rusher with 3,018 yards, including a single-game school record of 262 against Pittsburgh in 2003. Dallas drafted him in the second round (43rd overall) in 2004; he rushed for 5,068 yards across seven NFL seasons with the Cowboys, Seahawks, and Saints. His brother Thomas Jones — Julius Jr.'s uncle — was the seventh overall pick in 2000 out of Virginia and made the 2008 Pro Bowl with the Jets. In 2006 they became the first brothers in NFL history to each rush for 1,000 yards in the same season. Both grew up in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, a small coal-mining town where their mother worked graveyard shifts in the mines while raising seven children.
