The New York Giants are finalizing an agreement with John Harbaugh to become their next head coach, with the contract expected to be worth five years and $100 million, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz.
The deal would pay Harbaugh $20 million annually, making it one of the largest coaching contracts in the NFL. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Giants and Harbaugh are working to complete the agreement, with the hire expected barring a significant setback.
Harbaugh spent 18 seasons as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens before being dismissed following an 8-9 season in 2025. He compiled a 180-113 regular season record with Baltimore and won Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. Since winning the Super Bowl, Harbaugh's playoff record was 3-6 through the 2025 season. The Ravens missed the playoffs six times during his tenure.
The Giants finished 4-13 in 2025 and missed the playoffs for the eighth time in nine seasons. The team fired head coach Brian Daboll after a 2-8 start, with offensive coordinator Mike Kafka serving as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Harbaugh will be the Giants' fifth permanent head coach since Tom Coughlin resigned in January 2016. Former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken is reportedly expected to join Harbaugh's coaching staff with the Giants.
The Giants hold the fifth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, marking the fourth time in five years they have selected in the top six.
